Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein cynically congratulated suspended deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin for getting two offers following his sacking as deputy prime minister.

However, Hishammuddin expressed condolence that Muhyiddin had rejected the two offers.

“For the two offers (he received), I would like to congratulate (him) but for rejecting them, I would like to express my condolence,” he told reporters curtly.

Hishammuddin was asked to comment on Muhyiddin getting two offers including being the Penang governor and chairperson of Permodalan Nasional Bhd, following his sacking last July 28.

Muhyiddin had on March 21 revealed this but he did not state when the offers were made – either before or after he was sacked.

The former deputy prime minister said he declined both offers for the sake of his dignity.

“If I accepted it, it means I makan dedak (can be bought). People will say Muhyiddin is the number one person who makan dedak,” he had told a function in Kota Tinggi.
