'Fiercely independent' ex-High Court judge VT Singham passes away

Former High Court judge V T Singham passed away this evening at a hospital. His body will be brought to Ipoh for the funeral. He was 68.

Singham opted for optional retirement in 2013 at the age of 65.

He entered the judiciary by becoming a High Court judicial officer in 2000 after being in private practice, and was confirmed a full High Court judge in 2002.

He was the most senior High Court judge and until his retirement, was never elevated to the Court of Appeal.
