A woman was killed and her boyfriend seriously hurt after the motorcycle they were on rammed into the back of a parked trailer in Kangar today.

Nurul Nasihah Abd Ghani, 20, died at the scene from head injures while Mohd Fitri Jasni, 19, is in critical condition following the mishap which happened at KM3.8 Jalan Kangar-Alor Setar, Seriab in Kangar at 7am.

Kangar District Police Chief Supt Wari Kiew said Mohd Fitri was riding his Honda Ex 5 machine at quite a high speed before the mishap.

"Based on investigations, Mohd Fitri was believed to have tried braking the motorcycle about 10 metres away before hitting the rear left side of the trailer, resulting in the victims being flung underneath the trailer.

"Mohd Fitri is being treated at the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital here while Nurul Nasehah's body was sent to the mortuary of the same hospital," he said.

The owner of the trailer had been notified to help in investigations for parking the vehicle in a prohibited area, Wari added.
