Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia today said that he has yet to receive a letter from DAP on the suspension of Kota Melaka Member of Parliament Sim Tong Him.

However, he said, he had received a letter from Sim informing that the party had suspended his membership.

"I can't act on a letter from Kota Melaka MP until I receive a letter from the party," he said at the Parliament lobby today.

Pandikar Amin was asked on Sim's position in the Dewan Rakyat after DAP suspended his membership for a year, last February.

According to the party's disciplinary committee secretary, Tai Xing Piao, the suspension was because Sim often made statements which jeopardised the party's reputation.

Meanwhile, Sim said he himself was confused and was wondering whether he is now an Independent MP or still representing DAP in the Dewan Rakyat.

"I will abide by the party's decision, but I have not been told if I am still a DAP member of Parliament. What does suspension of membership mean?" he asked.
