Umno not dumb, no barking by the roadside, says Tajuddin

Umno is not dumb just because it doesn't follow former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's style of voicing out, party supreme council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said today.

"How does he judge whether we are dumb or not? Just because we don't follow him, or his style?

"(Just because) we don't go all over the place, have a rally, this lah, that lah. That is being mute?

"We can't be barking on the roadside," Tajuddin told reporters outside the Parliament lobby.

He was responding to Mahathir's blog post today, in which the former PM said he was forced to work with DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang because Umno leaders were "deaf, dumb and blind" in their support for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Tajuddin refuted this claim, saying the Umno leaders do criticise their top leaders, but through appropriate channels.

The deputy agriculture and agro-based industries minister said this included criticisms in the Dewan Rakyat and at the Umno general assembly.

Umno leaders are fully behind Najib, who is also party president, because saving Najib would save Umno as well, Tajuddin added.
