The head of a pro-government NGO has lambasted the Australian documentary Four Corners for attempting to draw a link between several murders and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Expressing shock over this, Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin president Ramesh Rao noted how those involved in these murders were tried and convicted in court.

Furthermore, he said the fact that the prime minister's critics are free to roam the nation and hurl allegations against him is proof that Najib does not murder his adversaries.

"Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, his son Guan Eng, DAP MP Tony Pua, PKR MP Rafizi Ramli, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and many more are all still alive," he added in a media statement.

Similarly, he said while former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim is serving a prison sentence for a sodomy conviction, he has not been killed either.

The Four Corners documentary had touched on the murders of deputy public prosecutor Kevin Anthony Morais, Ambank founder Hussain Najadi and Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.

It also featured interviews with various individuals, such as Kevin's brother Charles and Hussain's son Pascal.

However, Ramesh claimed that it appears certain quarters were behind the Australian journalists who came to Malaysia with the aim of hurling more allegations against Najib and to cause uncertainty, especially in terms of the economy, in the nation.

"The Ringgit has been climbing steadily since Mahathir quit Umno on Feb 29 and is now at RM3.95 against the US dollar.

"I believe this proves the wisdom of the prime minister's administrative team to ensure the nation’s economy remains solid and stable," he said.

Ramesh accused the opposition of being envious over the economic recovery, and therefore attempted to engineer other means of affecting the Ringgit.

Apart from that, he said the opposition is using Mahathir to achieve their nefarious agenda to topple an elected government.

"I am certain their strategy will not be successful," he added.
