Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi arrived in Pakistan yesterday on a three-day official visit which will include talks with Pakistani leaders, officials said.

During his stay Badawi will meet President Pervez Musharraf and his Pakistani counterpart Shaukat Aziz to discuss "bilateral, regional and international issues," a foreign ministry official told AFP .

"The visit will cover fresh ground in promoting economic and trade partnership between the two countries," he said.

Malaysia is actively involved in oil and gas projects, construction and communications in Pakistan, a fellow Muslim-majority country.

Abdullah's visit comes in a week of diplomatic revolving doors in Islamabad.

British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw was due to leave Pakistan for Afghanistan Tuesday, at around the same time as Indian Foreign Minister Natwar Singh was expected in the Pakistani capital.
