Disciplinary action will be taken against three officers who were involved in the unsatisfactory quality of work in the construction of Sentul district police headquarters (IPD), said Works Minister Fadillah Yusof.

"The special investigation committee had proposed disciplinary action against the three officers from the Public Works Department (PWD).

"The disciplinary action acknowledgement paper was submitted to the department in December 2015," he told Mohamad Imran Abd Hamid (PKR-Lumut).

The construction of IPD Sentul was delayed by 16 months and the cost increased by 9.9 percent to RM70.36 million.

It was first revealed in the Auditor-General's 2013 report and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) later conducted a proceeding on the project.

In its probe, the PAC found weaknesses in design had also caused additional expenditure for repairs and improvements.

This caused the project to exceed its original budget, which originally had a RM78mil ceiling price.

The PAC chief at the time, Nur Jazlan Mohamed, said all in all, the project is now estimated to cost RM83.6 million.

The project was financed by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) through a private funding initiative.
