Jasa: Sarawak DAP runs out of political capital for polls
The Sarawak DAP has run out of political capital when it claimed that the government would increase the Goods and Services Tax (GST) if the Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) won in the 11th state election.
Director-general of the Department of Special Affairs (Jasa), Mohd Puad Zarkashi, said the allegation was an outright lie and ridiculed the voters.
He said with the coming state election, the DAP could only create such stories like an amateur political party and he was certain the public, especially the people of Sarawak, were sick of the political lies.
“I am sure the Sarawak DAP will try to play up national issues which have been made up as it had run out of local issues to tarnish the image of the Sarawak BN government and the leadership of Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem who had introduced many changes and innovations for the benefit of the people,” he told Bernama .
He was commenting on a two-minute video clip which claimed the government would increase the GST rate by at least 10 percent if BN won the coming state election by a large majority.
Last Friday, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak on his working visit to Sarawak also gave the assurance that the government had no plans for increasing the GST rate.
