Some major business districts in Kuala Lumpur and surrounding areas were hit by a brief blackout today, for the second time in just over a month.

"There was a power glitch at a substation in Pudu Ulu at about 4.45 pm. It lasted 20 minutes," an official of power utility Tenaga Nasional told AFP .

Among the major buildings hit by the power failure were the Petronas Twin Towers and hotels along Jalan Sultan Ismail.

Last month a major power blackout hit Kuala Lumpur and several southern states, throwing traffic into chaos, trapping people in lifts and disrupting the fast train service to the international airport.
