Searchers find body of toddler in crocodile attack
The body of a toddler aged two years and six months, who was attacked by a crocodile at Kampung Sungai Mata in Samarahan yesterday was recovered by a search and rescue team at 8.55 am today.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said Crlieyseha Abdul Rahim's body was found about 10 metres from where the incident happened.
He said there were bite marks on the child’s back and shoulder.
In the incident at around 6pm yesterday, the victim was having a bath with her father Abdul Rahim Maarof, 26, in the river at an oil palm plantation near their home.
Abdul Rahim broke his hand while trying to rescue his daughter and was pulled to safety by villagers, who later sent him to a nearby hospital.
The spokesperson said the operation launched immediately after the report and ceased after nightfall before being resumed early this morning was carried out with the cooperation of Civil Defence Department personnel and villagers.
