Group lodges report on response to PAC’s 1MDB findings

A pro-Barisan Nasional (BN) non-governmental organisations alliance today lodged two police reports over (allegedly) defamatory remarks made by certain individuals following the issuance of the Public Accounts Committee's Report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) yesterday.

Its president, Zulkarnain Mahdar, said the first police report was made to ask the police to investigate the statement made by Batu Kawan Umno chief Khairuddin Abu Hassan that the police had purposely arrested PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli to prevent him from attending the Dewan Rakyat sitting yesterday when the report was issued.

"This is a terrible accusation made against the police and has been seen as an attempt to cause uneasiness among the people as the (video) clip on the matter had also been widely circulated via Facebook and WhatsApp ," he told reporters after lodging the report.

Zulkarnain said the second report asked the police to investigate Dr Mahathir Mohamad and other political leaders involved in signing the Citizens’ Declaration which claimed that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was directly involved in the 1MDB issue.

Both reports were lodged at the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters at 10.32am.
