DAP's Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong joins the growing list of opposition MPs barred from Sarawak, when he was turned away at the Sibu Airport today.

The MP was sent back to Kuala Lumpur on the next available flight, DAP's Pantai Remis assemblyperson Wong May Ing told Malaysiakini .

"He was taken to the immigration office where he requested to see the letter (barring him from entering the state).

"Then arranged his documentation with AirAsia and he was sent back," she said when contacted.

Wong arrived in Sibu with Liew via the same aircraft, at 2.45pm.

Wong said she asked the immigration officer to show her the list of those barred from entering so they would not have to attempt entry.

"But the immigration officer said even they don't know who is on the list, and need to check when someone arrives at the airport," she said.

This morning, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng sailed through Sarawak immigration amid fears of banning ahead of the May 7 state polls.

Lim said it is meaningless if only he is allowed in as it would be like a general fighting a battle without field commanders.

Other DAP MPs barred from entering include Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok and Seremban MP Anthony Loke.

Sarawak Chief Minister and BN chief Adenan Satem justified the ban, saying it is to preserve state harmony.

Others barred include Umno Sungai Besar chief and Gerakan Merah leader Jamal Md Yunos and controversial columnist Ridhuan Tee Abdullah.

PKR leaders barred from entry include its vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar and Youth deputy chief Afif Bahardin.
