Police believe there is no link between the homemade bombs found in Damansara, Selangor today to terrorist activities, said Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"Police have not been able to investigate the motive yet, but they have come to several conclusions.

"There is no link to Daesh or the Islamic State, but it is the act of certain individuals.

"There are criminal elements involved but not terrorism," Zahid said at a brief press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

Zahid, who is also the home minister, assured that the nation's security is under control and that police are always on standby.

Police had discovered at least four homemade pipe bombs, some of which had circuit boards, at an apartment in Damansara Perdana after an early morning raid.

Police said the suspect, who is believed to be a local, had managed to evade arrest.

Besides the bombs the cops also found syabu and ecstasy pills in the apartment.
