The body of a man killed in a “gang fight” inside Sungai Buloh prison yesterday has been taken away for a post-mortem, police said.

When contacted, Sungai Buloh district police chief Mohd Rozi Jidin confirmed that two inmates are currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“So far the body has been sent for a post-mortem…There are two main suspects.

“They are being investigated for murder as well as rioting (bergaduh),” said Mohd Rozi.

Malay-language daily Harian Metro earlier today quoted Mohd Rozi as saying initial investigations found the victim, reportedly in his 20s, was stabbed to death using a sharp object.

He also said that the victim was serving time after conviction for kidnapping.

The alleged stabbing happened at around 12.30pm yesterday, reportedly triggered by a fight between two rival gangs in the prison.

Asked whether there were further actions taken on any remaining gang members, Mohd Rozi said the matter is under purview of the Prisons Department.
