Buoyed by high personal popularity, incumbent Sarawak chief minister Adenan Satem has urged voters to think of him should they dislike the BN candidates who are contesting in the May 7 state election.

At a closed-door meeting yesterday with logging giant WTK Group, the Sarawak BN chief said the people wanted him to continue to helm the state.

His claim was apparently based on the 81 percent popularity he enjoyed, according to a recent survey by Merdeka Center.

“But if you don’t like the BN candidates, you think of me.

"For example, if you don’t like (Wong) Soon Koh or (Tiong) Thai King, you think of Adenan," he was quoted as saying by Borneo Post .

Nevertheless, Adenan said he cannot win the election by himself.

“Please help them because if they lose, I cannot be the chief minister. We are in one team and I cannot score on my own.”

Earlier, he reiterated his call to Sarawakians to give him five more years.

He also mentioned the 50 policy decisions he had implemented since taking office as the chief minister two years ago, and urged voters to come out in full force on May 7.

According to Adenan, he is ready to belt a few songs at official functions to raise money for charity.

“They know me as Elvis Presley and all. Whatever you call me but I will sing if somebody will sponsor my singing to raise funds for charity.

“So far. I’ve raised RM3.4 million for charity because of my singing,” he claimed.
