PAS' latest move to sack its former vice-president Husam Musa is bound to "shake up" the party further, said a former party stalwart.

Parit Buntar MP Mujahid Yusoff Rawa, former PAS central committee member, said the move would rock the party because of Husam's "strength" in PAS, especially in Kelantan.

"Husam has been very vocal in the party and this has hurt PAS very much," said Mujahid, who is now Parti Amanah Negara vice-president.

"PAS must have weighed the impact and benefit of having an important member like Husam before eventually deciding to axe him," he added.

"However, sacking him would only result in another shake-up not only in PAS Kelantan but also on the party as a whole," he said.

"It will be interesting to see the new development in the future.”

Mujahid said Husam is a very important person not only in Kelantan but also in the party, while he has his heart close to the grassroots.

He added that this was due to Husam's past struggles since joining PAS in 1982 and his ties with the late Kelantan menteri besar Nik Aziz Nik Mat.

Husam, who is also Salor assemblyperson, acted as Nik Aziz's political assistant and is very critical of the PAS Kelantan's management of environmental issues.

Asked if Amamah would now seek to recruit Husam to join the party, Mujahid said "our party is open to all".

"However, we don't accept everyone based on their grudges against others. We will accept when people believe and can accept our party's struggles, principles, and what we believe in and stand for," Mujahid said.

Last year, several key leaders, including Mujahid and former PAS deputy president Mohamed Sabu or Mat Sabu, quit the party and went on to form Amanah.

This came in the wake of PAS's decision to cut all ties with DAP, which was announced by the party at its muktamar (general assembly) in June last year.

Asked to comment, Mat Sabu, who is Amanah president, said the party would discuss how to approach Husam.

"We invite everyone who believes in Amanah's struggles and principles to join the party," he said.

Husam was sacked from PAS today after the party found that his actions had breached the party constitution, which included challenging and criticising party president Abdul Hadi Awang.

The PAS disciplinary committee, which sat on April 23, found that Husam had resorted to actions that went against the party constitution.
