Malacca Mubarak wants better pension for elected reps

The government should improve the pension scheme of elected representatives, said Malacca's Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak).

Its acting president, Nazari Adzim said the two per cent increase in pensions for former parliamentarians and Senate members should also be reviewed, so that they were at par with that given to the state assemblypersons.

Nazari told reporters that these proposals were among the resolutions passed at the 15th annual general meeting of Malacca Mubarak today.

"The elected representatives have contributed much to the nation. In fact, they are still contributing to the country and people through various ways even when they no longer hold the post," he said.

The AGM was opened by Senator Mohd Ali Rustam, with Mubarak Malaysia vice-president Zaleha Ismail also present.
