DAP national publicity secretary Tony Pua's accusations of BN's alleged money politics in the Sarawak state election is disgraceful and cowardly, said MCA religious harmony bureau chairperson Ti Lian Ker.

"Pua's desperation to revive the party's dignity by blaming BN for 'buying votes' from Sarawakians is misleading and unjustified.

"He should respect the democratic will of the Sarawakians who want nothing but continued progress under the leadership of BN and Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem.

"BN's win has reaffirmed that the people are fed up with politics of rhetoric, hate and baseless allegations played by the opposition over the years, and the opposition's failure of formulating policies that benefit the people," Ti said in a statement today.

He also advised Pua to resolve internal conflicts, especially on seat allocations with its opposition allies PKR and Amanah before the next general election.

He said Pua should have accepted DAP's defeat gracefully and even DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has admitted that DAP's inability to work with PKR was the key reason behind the opposition's crushing defeat.

Ti also said that BN had learned its lesson from the disastrous state election result in 2011, with Sarawak United Peoples' Party (SUPP) having taken steps to improve the party machinery and change the way it approached voters.

"Thus, it is no surprise that SUPP is able to win back the support of Chinese voters this time and contribute to BN's landslide victory in Sarawak," he said.

Pua should also realise that DAP's Impian Sarawak does not resonate well with the people on the grounds, he said.

"The manifesto offers nothing worthy but malicious allegations over BN’s monetary handouts in exchange of votes, as if implying the Sarawakians are naive and need to be taught of their democratic rights as Malaysian citizens.

"DAP should realise that such rhetorical approaches no longer inspire the people and the 11th Sarawak state election results say it all," he said.

There is no point crying over spilled milk, Ti said, advising DAP to accept its defeat and move on, instead of trying to smear BN's image and gain sympathy from the people.

On Saturday, Sarawak BN, boosted by Adenan's popularity, won a landslide victory in the state election, capturing 72 state seats against seven won by the DAP and three by PKR.
