Police have yet to question former 1MDB CEO Shahrol Azral Halmi as part of their probe into the sovereign wealth fund, said Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"All witnesses involved will be called by police if necessary to record their statements and for further investigations.

"Shahrol has not been called to record his statement as of yet," Zahid said in a written parliamentary reply yesterday.

He added that the police probe is under Section 409 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust.

In its report on 1MDB, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) blamed Shahrol for the firm's weaknesses.

Among the weaknesses cited was the management breaching decisions and advice from the board of directors, or had acted before the board made specific decisions.

Shahrol had been involved in 1MDB from the time it was still known as the Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA).
