Renegade DAP Tanjung Bungah asemblyperson Teh Yee Cheu riled up a fellow DAP rep in the Penang state legislative assembly today when he again called for the chief minister's time in office to be limited to two terms.

An irate DAP Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer stood up and told Teh to go and contest under the Gerakan banner in the coming national polls.

"It's very shameful! Really shameful!" he told Teh.

"You may as well contest under the Gerakan ticket instead of the Rocket (DAP) in the next (general) election," Rayer said, while Teh was addressing the state assembly.

Rayer was mad with Teh for attending a roundtable discussion to limit the chief minister's term organised by Gerakan on Saturday.

The Tanjung Bungah rep had applied for a motion to debate the matter at the state assembly but his application was rejected by speaker Law Choo Kiang due to "technicalities".

Teh had been passionate about the issue for several years but insisted that it was nothing personal against Chief Minister-cum-DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

Deputy speaker Maktar Shapee tried to stop Raye from interrupting, but Teh interjected and said "Let him speak, there is freedom of speech.”

"Let what he said be recorded in the Hansard, let the people see the sandiwara," Teh added.

Earlier, when Teh raised the issue, Rayer said he could have discussed his proposal with party colleagues instead of joining the roundtable discussion, which was also attended by Umno Teluk Bahang assemblyperson Shaheadan Ayoob Hussein Shah.

During the roundable discussion, Shahheadan had rejected the idea. Rayer praised him for the move.
