Rafizi: Timely reminder from Anwar not to get carried away by Dr M

Kim Quek: Thanks to PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli for this clarification. It clears up the Reformasi picture which has somewhat been blurred by former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s frenzied campaign to replace Najib Abdul Razak as PM.

The consensus reached in the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting on March 7 is of particular significance. Its decision to push for institutional reforms, release of Anwar Ibrahim, and resignation of Najib through a nationwide campaign, is sound and laudable.

Unfortunately, that campaign has not picked up steam.

What we need now is a serious effort to re-energise the Pakatan Harapan machinery as a cohesive political force, for which there must be a determined political will on the part of every component party - PKR, DAP, Amanah - to pursue a clear-cut common political objective.

And all the individual parochial ambitions of each party must be subsumed to that of a common agenda. If we can do that, Putrajaya should be within reach soon.

RCZ: It is clear to the rakyat that PKR is dancing to Dr M’s tune and is so in awe of the man.

There are two very important points for PKR to remember. Firstly, Dr M is responsible for the breakdown of the institutions and the destruction of rule of law. Is he sorry? No. So never, ever forget that.

Secondly, Anwar is in jail for advocating reforms which found favour with the people. Never, ever forget that, too.

So Dr M should be dancing to Pakatan Harapan’s tune and not the other way around. Never, ever forget that.

The Citizens’ Declaration is nonetheless an important tool and as an intelligent strategist of the opposition, you should be able to evaluate the pros and cons. Without doubt, the Citizens’ Declaration has inspired people to sign on as the opposition is weak, fractious and uninspiring.

Sarawakian: Malaysia will be saved the day the Citizens’ Declaration and Mahathir endorse Anwar as their PM of choice. Have they any choice? Muhyiddin Yassin and Mukhriz Mahathir may be sacked from Umno soon.

Maplesyrup: PKR is divided because half of its members are ex-Umno whose hearts are still there. They are like the Israelite children who left Egypt but their hearts are still lingering on the past.

PKR needs to be purged of those whose hearts are set on the Umno ways and then rebuild from there. Status quo, PKR will forever be mediocre.

What?MeWorry?: Yes, Maplesyrup, I and many, many others have always been concerned ever since Mahathir mooted this declaration idea, which is primarily a tool to serve his personal agenda and interests.

And yes, PKR needs to purge the Umno DNA among its members pronto.

Bamboo: The two worst teams landing Malaysia in dire straits are Team Mahathir-Daim Zainuddin and Team Najib-Jho Low.

Team Mahathir-Daim laid the foundation with the alleged piratisation and monopoly which put Malaysians in high-cost existence.

Team Najib-Low of 1MDB made the ringgit weak, increased prices and further burdened the people. These two teams contribute 100 percent of our economic problems.

Kim Quek: I concur with DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang’s analysis. Abdul Hadi Awang is either hopelessly delusional or an impulsive liar with his claim that PAS can teach Umno a lesson if given the chance for a straight fight in both constituencies. With or without a straight fight, PAS will suffer crushing defeats.

In the event of three-cornered fights, PAS can only hope to garner 15 to 20 percent of total votes cast. Nearly half of the close to 50 percent it secured in GE13 will be returned to Pakatan, while the remaining loss is made up of defectors (to Amanah).

The remaining, say, 80 percent, will be split between Pakatan and Umno, with the former having an edge as one-third of the non-Malay votes may swing en bloc towards it.

Feature Amanah in at least one constituency, as this is the golden opportunity to propel it onto the national screen. A robust Amanah is essential, if Pakatan wants to sail smoothly into Putrajaya.

CQ Muar: PAS' ambition is to impress Umno of its 'strength' should it win in the event of a straight fight. This will enable PAS to be on par with Umno in its secret dealings and collaboration.

Thus, it is this scheming that PAS is hoping Pakatan Harapan will not stand in the way of fielding a candidate. PAS has conveniently forgotten that its support and popularity had waned over the last few years, and its chances of victory are slim.

Without non-Muslims’ support, the result will be disastrous for PAS, with BN capturing the twin by-elections for sure.

In view of such a likely scenario, Pakatan Harapan needs to chart its course and ignore PAS' directives. After all, they hadn't been too cooperative over many issues, have they?

Don't Worry Be Happy: Just have nothing to do with PAS, let Pakatan Harapan take its chances with Amanah.

Even with a worst-case scenario among the Pakatan Harapan coalitions partners, they can come to the final arrangement, one for PKR and one for Amanah.

Toss a coin to decide the seat they will contest.
