Sacked PAS Salor assemblyperson Husam Musa has expressed hope former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad will help the opposition bloc fulfil their ambitions to take over Putrajaya.

Husam last night said this was because the opposition will become stronger with Mahathir's guidance.

"I hope Mahathir will remain with the opposition and he will be the coach so that we can be the (federal) government.

"I feel that as long as Mahathir 'sits with us' (opposition parties), we will become stronger," said Husam when asked for comments on Mahathir's remarks that the opposition pact will lose in any election if they remain fractured.

BH Online had yesterday quoted Mahathir attributing Pakatan Harapan's devastating loss in the recent Sarawak polls to it being divided.

"So the opposition will always lose and BN will always win," he was reported saying during an event in Alor Setar.

At the 11th Sarawak polls, BN under chief minister Adenan Satem won 70 out of 82 seats contested, including five wrested from the DAP.

PKR defended its three incumbents while Amanah and PAS were left empty handed.

Husam, a former PAS deputy president, was speaking at a dialogue session at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall.

The 'Dialogue with Husam Musa' was organised as a platform to air his views after his sacking from PAS.

Audience members at the dialogue that lasted over three hours grilled Husam on his next move, including whether he would be joining Amanah.
