PARLIAMENT Police have recorded 28 cases under the Official Secrets Act 1972 since 2011, said Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Six cases out of the 28 were charged in court, he said in a written reply yesterday.

He was responding to Gobind Sing Deo (DAP-Puchong) who asked the government to reveal the number of OSA cases since 2010.

In 2014, 21 cases were recorded under OSA, with five brought to court.

In 2016, only one case was recorded, while none has been brought to court.

Last month, PKR Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli was charged under the OSA for revealing the contents of the classified auditor-general's report on 1MDB.

Rafizi was charged with two counts under OSA and another under criminal defamation at the Sessions Court and Magistrate's Court respectively.

He pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to the two charges.

This was related to the leaked classified documents relating a land deal between Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) and 1MDB.

Rafizi claimed that the 1MDB's financial problems had resulted in LTAT unable to pay gratuities to its armed forces veterans.
