Selangor menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali today reminded Sungai Besar constituents "the person" who has contributed to their hardships would soon arrive to seek their help.

"In two weeks, more people will come and 'live' in Sungai Besar. Even the person who had implemented GST (Goods and Services Tax) will come here to ask for your help.

"Don't help the person who implemented GST, because it has contributed to the rakyat's hardships," said Azmin alluding to the campaign period for the upcoming Sungai Besar by-election

"They will come with all kinds of promises, offers and bribes.

"But me and my state leadership, we come with a (track) record and achievements," said Azmin in his speech during the launch of Selangor's Food Stamp 2016 programme at Dewan Seri Bernam, Sungai Besar.

The monthly food assistance programme is a state initiative introduced under the Selangor Budget 2016 with an initial allocation of RM3 million.

The initial allocation is being channelled to 5,600 families earning below RM1,500 - 100 families in each of Selangor's 56 constituencies.

"We (Selangor government) do not give BR1M because BR1M is not empowering.

"We do not see that 'cash is king'. Cash is not king...," he quipped.

Azmin, however, on several occasions stressed that the launch event today was not intended to coincide with the upcoming by-elections.

"This is the first programme of its kind, not only in Selangor but also in Malaysia.

"The programme was planned much earlier and not because there are 'certain things' happening here in Sungai Besar," he said.

A total of 200 families from Sekinchan and Sungai Panjang - two state seats under the Sungai Besar parliamentary seat - were present to receive 10kg of rice and other basic goods from Azmin and state-exco in charge of welfare Dr Daroyah Alwi.

Other Pakatan Harapan elected representatives present were Kota Anggerik assemblyperson Yaakob Sapari, Sabak assemblyperson Sallehin Mukhyi and Sekinchan assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim.
