S’gor CAT meows, quips BN MP over ‘money, women’ allegation

A BN lawmaker has taken a feline swipe at the “money and women” allegation against the Selangor state government.

Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid (BN-Kota Tinggi) pointed out that the claim concerned an administration which advocated “CAT” - competency, accountability and transparency.

"It was previously CAT, but now it has turned into a meow," he said, interjecting Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (BN-Setiu), who was debating the National Land Code (Amendment) Bill 2016 in the Dewan Rakyat.

CAT is a term often used by the Penang state government, whereas in Selangor, the state administration had formed Selcat - select committee on competency, accountability and transparency - to ensure proper governance.

Meanwhile, Che Mohamad said while corruption is commonplace, this time around however allegations surfaced in a “clean” state, involving a party which is “clean and competent”.

He also pointed towards the muted response from the opposition regarding this issue.

"If this happened among us (BN states), the other side (opposition) will make noise. But when this happens on the other side, only three spoke up, the rest are silent," he said.

Last Friday, a WhatsApp conversation between PKR leaders was leaked.

In the conversation, party secretary-general Rafizi Ramli claimed to have received a complaint about money and women being sought in negotiations with the state government.

Selangor Menteri Besar and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali dismissed the allegation, claiming that it was part of a smear campaign.

Last night, the PKR political bureau urged Rafizi to submit the alleged evidence to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
