The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today ordered Amanah Youth vice-chairperson Mohd Fakhrulrazi Mohd Mokhtar to enter his defence over a sedition charge for taking part in the KitaLawan protest last year.

Sessions judge Shamsudin Abdullah said a prima facie case has been proven by the prosecution after he ruled that Fakhrulrazi had made seditious statements during his talk.

“The prosecution produced five witnesses during the trial. After maximum evaluation of the documents and submissions, the court finds the charge against the accused in accordance with Section 152 up to 155 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

“The court finds that the accused had uttered seditious statement and hence he is now ordered to enter his defence,” he said.

The court then fixed June 28 for Fakhrulrazi to enter his defence.

Fakhrulrazi was represented by lawyer Ariff Azami Hussein while DPP Julia Ibrahim prosecuted.

Fakhrulrazi was charged under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, with uttering a seditious statement in front of the Sogo commplex, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman on Feb 21, last year.

If found guilty he stands to face a maximum fine of RM5,000 or jail of up to three years.
