Suspended Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin’s fate has yet to be discussed by the party’s supreme council, according to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

This was confirmed by various supreme council members, when asked by reporters as they were leaving their monthly meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur today.

“The party has more important things to discuss than that (Muhyiddin’s fate),” said Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron.

This is despite fellow supreme council member Nazri Aziz previously saying that he would propose for the expulsion of Muhyiddin and Mukhriz Mahathir, at the next supreme council meeting.

At a press conference after the supreme council meeting chaired by him, Najib confirmed that Muhyiddin’s fate was not discussed.

Muhyiddin has been suspended from Umno since Feb 26 after being dropped as deputy prime minister and education minister in July last year.

He has been a vocal critic of 1MDB and the way Najib handled the issue since before he was kicked out of cabinet.

He is also a part of the Citizens' Declaration, a movement by the Save Malaysia group, which also includes former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir and various opposition and NGO figures.

The movement seeks to force Najib’s resignation and enforce institutional reforms.
