The High Court in Kuala Lumpur upheld the conviction and sentence of 12 years' jail and three strokes of the rotan against a marketing executive for raping an underage teenage girl who was an acquaintance.

Judicial Commissioner Ab Karim Ab Rahman made the decision today after finding that the Sessions Court had not erred in its decision that convicted and sentenced Ahmat Fitra Bustami, 26.

"The court believes the evidence given by the victim, therefore the accused's (Ahmat Fitra) appeal is dismissed," he said.

On Oct 20, 2014, the Sessions Court sentenced Ahmat Fitra to 12 years' jail and three strokes of the rotan after finding him guilty of raping the 15-year-old girl.

He was charged with raping the teenager in the living room of a house in Setapak here at 2.30pm, on Feb 25, 2013.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Aisyah Ahmad prosecuted while the accused was represented by counsel Nik Zarith Nik Moustpha.
