Mercy flight rushes teen Orang Asli mum to hospital

A teenage Orang Asli mother of the interior Kampung Sedal, Pos Simpor in Gua Musang was rushed to the Gua Musang Hospital by a mercy flight arranged by the Fire and Rescue Department air unit after she reportedly suffered post-natal pain.   

The unit’s public relations officer, Siti Farizun Naim, said the flight brought Maryant Musa, 19, in an AW139 helicopter based in Bertam, Penang.  

“This morning, we received a report from the Orang Asli Development Department of a young Orang Asli mother who was in pain after giving birth three days ago, and the flight was conducted at 9.15am to bring the woman to the Gua Musang Hospital,” she said in a statement in Gua Musang today.  

Siti Farizun said Maryant was accompanied by her infant son and her sister Maslina, 17.  

The captain of the flight was Faizal Izani Azizan. He was assisted by Captain Sharizal Sahari and air quartermaster Khairul Johar Noh.
