Parti Amanah Negara has turned the tables on PAS and accused the latter of being “intoxicated by Umno’s narratives and racial slurs” to hate the Chinese and DAP.

Mujahid was commenting on PAS leaders at the recent muktamar putting down Amanah as intoxicated, implying a loss of memory and strength.

“The worst part is saying that DAP has a hand in this, and by providing us the liquor, they are the culprit and we are the victims. Nothing could be further from the truth,” Mujahid quipped.

“What about you?” he asked of PAS.

“You are being intoxicated by the drink provided by Umno. You are intoxicated by Umno’s doctrine, the racial statements and slander against the Chinese community and DAP,” Amanah vice-president Mujahid Yusof Rawa said.

He added while intoxicated by Umno, PAS has become “racist and has abandoned” the party’s Islamic universalism.

These are the principles which former PAS leaders like PAS founder Yusof Rawa had fought for all his life, Mujahid said of his late father.

PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz had accused DAP of providing certain members of the Islamic party with "liquor" (arak), which led to their departure to form Amanah.

Hadi's keris stunt 'mockery'

Mujahid also hit out at PAS for mimicking Umno leaders in their choice of attire during the recent annual muktamar in Kelantan, where PAS leaders discarded their traditional white robes for the baju melayu, kain pelikat and songkok.

“They way they (PAS) dress reflects whatever they have in mind, but even Umno did not go to this extent (to prove they are Malays),” Mujahid said.

Mujahid said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang brandishing the keris to cut the cake during the muktamar, which concluded yesterday, was a “mockery” to all Muslims.

“Indeed, we are not the ones who are intoxicated, it is you who are. This is why we are out of the party (PAS), and it is all because you are intoxicated by Umno,” Mujahid said.

Mujahid expressed shock at Nik Abduh’s remark, saying while the PAS Youth chief may have attempted to be metaphoric, the remark is meant to ring true.

However, the statement which he said was aimed at dragging Amanah into a quarrel with the DAP, has no truth in it.

“Our principles, when we stand together with DAP and PKR, are to fight against corruption, racism and any form of dogmatic and Islamic religious interpretation,” Mujahid said.

“Is that being intoxicated?” he asked.
