The High Court in Kuala Lumpur today was told that a charred vehicle that was found at Hutan Melintang, Perak was similar to the car driven by deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais.

Proton Sdn Bhd Technical Service senior executive Mohammad Fairuz Fadzil said the vehicle was 100 percent or totally torched but its design, logo and emblem, ‘PERDANA’ were recognisable.

“My team had searched for identifications on the vehicle. For Proton Perdana, there are four main identifications, which are the chassis number, plate number, engine number and transmission number.

“However, all four identifications were missing from the vehicle,” he said during examination-in-chief by deputy public prosecutor Saiful Hazmi Mohd Saad on the 12th day of Kevin Morais’ murder trial.

Under cross-examination by counsel V Rajehgopal, the prosecution’s 22nd witness disagreed that a vehicle would be unrecognisable if all four identifications were missing.

Rajehgopal: Without the chassis number can you recognise the car?

Mohammad Fairuz: Yes, from the design.

Rajehgopal: Only from the design you can identify?

Mohammad Fairuz: Yes.

Rajehgopal: Do you know that the vehicle that you saw and identified at the Hutan Melintang police station was a car made by Honda?

Mohammad Fairuz: Agree.

Rajehgopal: Without the logo and emblem, you cannot be sure that it is a Proton Perdana 2.0?

Mohammad Fairuz: Agree.

Six men, G Gunasekaran, 48, R Dinishwaran, 24, AK Thinesh Kumar, 23, M Vishwanath, 26, S Nimalan, 23, and S Ravi Chandaran, 45, stand accused of killing Kevin Morais.

They allegedly committed the offence between 7am and 8pm on Sept 4, 2015, along the stretch between Jalan Dutamas Raya Sentul and No1 Jalan USJ1/6D, Subang Jaya.

Col Dr R Kunaseegaran, 53, the first accused, is alleged to have abetted the six in murdering Kevin Morais at the same place, date and time.

The trial before Justice Azman Abdullah continues tomorrow.
