Zaid apologises to Apandi for wanting him replaced as AG, but...

LifeFlier: I agree with former de facto law minister Zaid Ibrahim. Maybe we are not privy to every single detail how attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali fulfilled his KPIs (key performance indicators).

From the reporting of alternative news channels, apparently he seems good at weathering all kind of work-related pressure and be able to complete his missions under the constriction of time.

We really admire him for his acuteness in spotting the fake charge sheet just by a quick glance, we also must learn from him on how to glean thousands of pages of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation papers and make a precise judgement so that the innocent doesn't get charged unnecessarily.

It appears all are indeed remarkable achievements in his past 12 months as new AG. Indeed, with Malaysia as a society which embraces meritocracy, how can the government not seek Agong’s consent to award him the Tan Sri title.

Discovery: To be honest, I was shocked when I read yesterday news that Apandi was given the highest award by the Agong.

I wondered what this man had done to be so highly decorated. As far as I have read from online news, he is the most cursed human being in the country.

Like Zaid, I must have been ignorant about his "great contributions".

Fairplayer: Zaid, there was no need for an apology, since what was spoken of him was before the awarding of Apandi's Tan Sri title.

The fight against high-profile corruption must continue. I, however, would leave the highest honour to the king of kings.

No Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) recommendations are needed for the awards to be received on that great and glorious day of reckoning - for some, eternal greatness and glory; for others, eternal damnation.

Fair&Just: Yes, only God can do something about the quagmire here. These politicians are so powerful, god-like and can do whatever they want, just like old medieval times where there are lords and serfs and no rakyat.

FellowMalaysian: The talent of this 'special one' was indeed God-given as no Malaysians have risen so quickly as Apandi in the history of the country's pantheon of imminent attorney-generals.

In fact, he deserves a more aptly-named title bestowed on him - the 'Obeisance Award'.

Anonymous_4171: A beautiful "apology" from Zaid, but I guess some may just take it as face value without realising the pun.

Kingfisher: Quite aside the sarcasm and irony, one must observe that there is one too many awards.

It seems awkward in some sense for a still fledgling country of some 60 years since attaining independence and sovereignty.

FairMind: This award puts the giver and receiver in the spotlight and earn scorn from the world over.

I wonder who is the person who has made this colossal blunder in recommending the AG to the Agong without thinking about the future implication that the 1MDB affairs may explode in the face of the AG once the investigations in other parts of the world have been concluded.

Once this happens, the giver of the highest award will be subject to ridicule.

Sa Tombs: I am shocked that the hero of 1MDB has not been given a Tun title.

After all, he is the knight in shining armour who saved PM Najib Razak and 1MDB, and also a Muslim (not my words but that of a deputy minister).

Tycoon Jho Low deserves a hero's title as well. And don’t forget, Najib's stepson.

Anonymous S303: The government should stop waste in awarding Tan Sri to a person who is already a Tan Sri.

What difference does it make if you are a first class or a second class Tan Sri? In fact, it is demeaning to award someone high honour and deem it as a second-class award.

When one is awarded first class Tan Sri-ship, that person should be asked to return his second-class award, which should be recycled to another recipient once the medal is polished and fixed up.

I understand that the Tan Sri award ornaments, etc, are approximately RM20,000 each. So, having two classes of Tan Sri-ship is superfluous and a wonton waste of funds.

Appum: All of us owe Apandi an apology as he must have done something really deserving for the honour.

Yes, maybe only the Agong and the PM are privy to his contributions. We ordinary rakyat know no better.

Pokokgetah: In football terms, Apandi would be referred to as the "special one". Actually, the honour of being named the "special one" has already been accorded to one particular football manager - Jose Maurinho.

Where players are concerned, there is another great honour. The Golden Boot is awarded to the top goal scorer in the Fifa World Cup.

I think Apandi fully deserves the boot, golden or otherwise.
