The third stage of the 2016 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) payment has been brought forward to June 15 onwards in view of the Aidilfitri celebration which is expected to fall on July 6.

Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah in a statement said the government hoped the financial assistance would help the people to purchase necessities and undertake preparations to celebrate the festival.

He said the payment would be credited directly into the recipients’ bank accounts.

For those without bank accounts, the letters of approval would be mailed directly to them and payments could be redeemed at any nearby Bank Simpanan Nasional branches, he said.

Under Budget 2016, the government decided to make the BR1M payment in four stages, with the first and second stage of the payments made on Jan 28 and April 28, respectively.
