Police have denied that the four Malaysians who were released after they were kidnapped by armed men in Sabah in April, were brought to Bukit Aman.

Bukit Aman Special Branch director Mohamad Fuzi Harun said there was no need to bring them to Bukit Aman to record their statement.

"They are in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah for recording of statement in relation to the kidnapping and to complete police investigation," he said when contacted by Bernama today.

News portal The Borneo Post Sabah claimed that the four were brought to Bukit Aman to have their statements recorded.

Yesterday, inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said the four were released early Wednesday morning and reported to be safe and healthy.

The four men released were Wong Teck Kang, 31, Wong Hung Sing, 34, Wong Teck Chii, 29, and Johnny Lau Jung Hien, 21, all from Sibu, Sarawak.

They were kidnapped by the Abu Sayyaf militant group in Pulau Ligitan, Semporna, Sabah on April 1.

Yesterday, the four were flown to Kota Kinabalu via a police craft, after meeting with family members and completing health checks in Sandakan.
