Smitten by 'The Beast', Najib wishes for one

Kingfisher: There is no harm wishing for one (‘The Beast’) but it is unnecessary for wanting one at this juncture in our national development challenges/constraints.

Let Malaysians attain the elusive first world status in every aspect of governance and economic security before its leaders can make a reasonable claim to acquire something akin to ‘The Beast’ for their official use.

We don't want to go the road of some third world leaders some 30 years ago who went into a reckless self-indulgent show of building and buying when their countrymen were burdened for essentials and proper government services.

The rest is history - the overthrow of these repressive leaders and consequent national turmoil.

To want something beyond one's means is justly ambitious but to have something beyond one's means is irresponsible indulgence, so say the sages.

Negarawan: "A very lovely car. I wish I had one," said PM Najib Razak about the official vehicle of the US president.

This goes to show how disconnected Najib is from the rakyat's daily suffering and hardships.

Despite his already extravagant lifestyle, he is still thinking of himself and his family, and do not have the rakyat in his heart and mind. He is simply not cut out to be a PM.

Katusha: He wishes to have ‘The Beast’ when most of the rakyat only dare to wish for a better life without GST (goods and services tax).

In reality, he needn't shyly pretend to wish for it when he could have it according to his whims and fancy.

I guess he wouldn't be up to standards if he doesn't have what US President Barack Obama has.

D Lovrenciear: When men forget their blessings and yearn for the things they do not have; it speaks volumes of their desires.

Desires are the gateway to a future time of payback. But that will be too late to salvage as it is in the hereafter.

Of course, those not anchored in spirituality will dismiss all these with a snobbish shrug. Can any rich donor please rise to the occasion?

‘Estimated RM86.4m used to rent private jet can pay for scholarships’

Kangkung: Even if the rental of the private jet was RM1 million, it was too much, let alone if it was RM86.4 million.

In this country, such excesses will not even make people in the Umno government blink, as it is the norm.

Everyone has been asked to tighten his or her belt except the one whose waist cannot fit any belt.

Anonyxyz: No wonder Amanah leader Mat Sabu threw the microphone in anger. Such wastage of public money cannot excite the people but the hudud drama got them very worked up.

I cannot blame Umno for contempt disregard to such abuse as they know the solution that always works is to talk about Malay unity and religion.

The option of the private jet was simply too wasteful.

Fair&Just: I just cannot understand how a human with ordinary thinking and reasoning can place an ‘X’ next to the BN candidate on the ballot paper when such heinous abuse of rakyat money is committed by the ruling coalition.

If you were really conscious of the realities of everyday life in Malaysia, you would realise that despite your money issues, there is absolutely no reason to put an ‘X’ in any other box than the BN box.

You forget that the Malays aren't as obsessed with money as the Chinese.

Mosquitobrain: Scholarships were cut in the 2016 budget. Top students cried for failing to obtain them.

Here we have allegedly RM86.4 million paid for the private jet rentals, at US$15,000 per hour, to shuffle the PM’s wife in and out of the country, money that can fund 1,920 outstanding students.

Jaycee: Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, please continue to expose such blatant misuse of public funds.

The rakyat has the right to know as the money comes from the taxpayers, even though this minority government beg to differ.
