Azmin to campaign in twin polls this week
Selangor Menteri Besar and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali is expected to campaign for Amanah's Kuala Kangsar candidate Ahmad Termizi Ramli and the party's Sungai Besar candidate Azhar Shukor some time this week.
This comes after BN speculated Azmin's absence on the campaign trail was a signal of rifts within Pakatan Harapan, following the decision to field Amanah candidates in Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar.
PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said Azmin will join PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in Kuala Kangsar after attending to his commitments in Selangor.
"The MB (Azmin) came for nomination to showcase PKR's commitment and Pakatan's choice in fielding Amanah.
"Of course he has to follow the Sultan (of Selangor) on daily programmes, it is understood by both (PKR and Amanah) leadership," said Nurul Izzah in response to speculations over Azmin's absence in Sungai Besar.
Wan Azizah and other party top leaders had previously stressed that Azmin needed to take care of the Selangor government, which is made up of PAS, PKR and DAP representatives.
Nurul Izzah, who is PKR Sungai Besar election director, said most of the party's top leaders from Selangor were campaigning for the by-elections.
"The key YBs from Selangor are all here. I've campaigned more in Sungai Besar than I have campaigned for my own constituency.
"In that sense the commitment is there but certainly we want to do more," she stressed.
"What we are trying to say is that the sustainability of Pakatan (Harapan) is dependent on Amanah's win and fortunes in both by-elections," the Lembah Pantai MP added.
PKR, Amanah and DAP working hand in glove
Amanah strategic director Dzulkefly Ahmad added the party is confident of PKR and DAP'S support for its candidates.
"I, for one, have no qualms to vouch that PKR as well as DAP is hand in glove with us," he said.
The former Kuala Selangor MP also said he is personally arranging for Azmin to also campaign in Sungai Besar.
"I won't tell you exactly when but it will be in the next 72 hours.
"(For Azmin) to appear together with other leaders like Tan Sri Mat Taib. This is in the process," he said, referring to former Selangor MB Muhammad Muhammad Taib.
BN also told voters that Azmin's absence shows that Pakatan Harapan is not committed to Sungai Besar.
Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar go to the polls on June 18.
