Malaysia’s annual inflation rate is forecast to have cooled for the third consecutive month in May, slowing to 2.0 percent as fuel prices remained weak, a Reuters poll showed.

Low transport costs are expected to offset higher prices of food and consumer goods, economists said.

In April, the consumer price index rose 2.1 percent from a year earlier, slower than the previous month’s pace of 2.6 percent.

Inflation is expected to moderate further throughout the year as the impact from a 6 percent Goods and Services Tax (GST) implemented in April 2015 fades.
