Philippine media today reported that another four Malaysian nationals were allegedly kidnapped off the coast of Sabah and brought to Sulu this morning.

This comes after four Malaysians were released by the Abu Sayyaf militant group last week and returned to Sarawak.

ABC-CBN News reports Tawi-Tawi police director Joselito Salido as saying the suspects brought the new captives to the shores of Sitankai, Tawi-Tawi, before transferring them to Sulu.

The Philippine Army’s Western Mindanao Command is said to be verifying the information.

Meanwhile, The Star Online reports that security sources in Sabah have not heard anything about the incident.

However, they are trying to verify the details from their Filipino counterparts.

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar tweeted that the police have yet to verify the news and will liaise with its Philippine counterpart to wait for confirmation.
