Beep, beep! Make way for the darting ostrich on Federal Highway

Motorists travelling along the Federal Highway must have wondered if they had stumbled into a Roadrunner cartoon, although what unravelled this afternoon involved a different type of bird.

At around 3pm, motorists were both amused and surprised when an ostrich sprinted along the highway, just ahead of the popular shopping destination Midvalley Megamall.

"It was running on the fast lane. People were driving slowly behind it. Some motorcyclists got off the motorcycle lane and started riding beside it.

"I was shocked and it took me awhile to process that an ostrich was running on the fast lane on the Federal Highway," said one eyewitness.

There was also a short video of the largest bird darting along the highway, which was posted on Twitter.

“Eh there is an ostrich running on the road near the Federal Highway. So cute.

“Hopefully no one hits it,” said the user identified as hnmkhyn.
.
The Twitter user said the ostrich was also able to change lanes to avoid traffic.

“It's so cute. It shift(ed) to the extreme right lane. There is heavy traffic as a result of it," added hnmkhyn.

It is unclear how the ostrich ended up on the highway as there are no farms in the vicinity.
