RM4 million special Raya aid for Kedah civil servants
Kedah civil servants and pensioners will each receive Hari Raya special aid of RM500 and RM250 respectively in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration.
Kedah menteri besar's political secretary Shaiful Hazizi Zainol Abidin said this decision was made at the Kedah state executive council meeting held at the Penang Hospital in George Town today.
"The total allocation is RM4 million but I don't have the exact number of civil servants in Kedah. The payment of the special aid will be made tomorrow," Shaiful Hazizi told reporters after the meeting.
Earlier, Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah chaired the meeting from 11am at the meeting room of the hospital's Intensive Care Unit. It was attended by all the nine state exco members.
Shaiful Hazizi said Ahmad Bashah was expected to return to work soon but did not know when the menteri besar would be discharged from hospital.
"Looking at his condition, the menteri besar was cheerful and sprightly when chairing the state exco meeting just now. We hope he can return to work soon (but) we want to ensure that he is 100 percent fit first," he said.
The state exco meeting was held at Penang Hospital as Ahmad Bashah is still receiving treatment after undergoing intestininal surgery on June 6.
Prior to that, he was admitted to the Kedah Medical Centre after feeling faint while attending a meeting with Kedah BN assemblypersons on June 4.
