Britain’s EU referendum positive for Malaysia, says AmBank CEO
Britain's referendum on European Union (EU) membership will have a positive effect on Malaysia's economy regardless of the outcome of the voting, says AmBank Group chief executive officer Sulaiman Mohd Tahir.
He said if Britain, which has the world's fifth largest economy, decides to stay in the EU, it would bring back stability into the economic bloc after a period of volatility due to the possibility of the country exiting the EU or "Brexit".
"Brexit is not good for Europe but for Asia it is different. We will see funds flowing into this region," Sulaiman told reporters after launching the "Win an All-New 2016 Toyota Vellfire with AmBank!" campaign in Kuala Lumpur today.
Polling for the referendum starts at 2pm (Malaysian time) today, with the results expected to be released between 10.30am and noon tomorrow.
Meanwhile, in the AmBank campaign, customers stand a chance to win three Toyota Vellfire vehicles by depositing a minimum of RM1,000 into savings or current accounts or a minimum of RM10,000 into fixed or term deposit.
Customers are also eligible to win the multi-purpose vehicle by spending a minimum of RM80 in a single receipt using an AmBank credit card.
