PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has rubbished allegations by former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir that Umno will hand over Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan to PAS.

"(This is) false news. There was no such agreement, and we have never discussed it.

"PAS will contest (in the next general election) to get those states," Hadi was quoted as saying in today's issue of the Umno-owned daily Utusan Malaysia.

Mukhriz on Sunday claimed there would be a Umno-PAS deal that could see a "trade-off" involving the three states.

"There must be a deal. They are trying to bring PAS and Umno together. There must be some trade-off for PAS. I see Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah (going) back to PAS," Mukhriz said.

Kelantan is a PAS stronghold while both Kedah and Terengganu have been controlled by the Islamist party in the past.

PAS and Umno have been improving ties following the demise of the Pakatan Rakyat opposition pact.

However, Hadi and other party leaders insist that they will not be joining BN, and will only support the ruling government on matters that will benefit the rakyat.
