‘Spaghetti’ westerns star Bud Spencer dies at 86

Italian actor Bud Spencer died yesterday at the age of 86, his son said.

Spencer, born in Naples as Carlo Pedersoli, starred in more than 20 films with sidekick and film partner Terence Hill that brought them to fame as cult favourites in Europe, with large fan bases in Italy and Germany.

Their best-known films included the Italian-produced ‘spaghetti’ westerns ‘They Call Me Trinity’ (1970), ‘All The Way, Boys’ (1972), ‘My Name is Nobody’ (1973) and ‘A Friend Is A Treasure’ (1981).

Spencer’s son Giuseppe Pedersoli told the Italian news agency Ansa his father “did not suffer, he had all of us with him, and his last words were ‘thank you’.”
