No quit letters yet from Umno members in Sabah, says Yahya

The Sabah Umno liaison body has not received any resignation letter from party members, including those in Semporna who declared to have left the party, said its secretary, Yahya Hussin.

“We’ve heard of the resignations but so far the letters have not reached us at the office of the Sabah Umno liaison body,” he told reporters after handing over Raya goodies for members of the security forces in Putatan today.

In light of the development, Yahya reminded Sabah Umno members to be calm and not follow those whose action had deviated from the concept of loyalty to the party.

“I wish to advise the state’s Umno members to remain calm and pay attention to further directives from the party’s top leadership,” said Yahya, who is also Sabah Deputy Chief Minister.

He said any party member who had been rash in their action, still had time and the chance to think over, state their loyalty and return to their original struggle with the party.

“Each Umno member should accept the decisions made by the top leaders and supreme council, elected and entrusted by the party members themselves, to manage the party.

“When they’ve made decisions such as sacking, suspending the membership or taken other disciplinary action against certain individuals in the party, we all should give support to ensure the party’s struggle is not tainted or misused,” he said.

On the Raya contribution, Yahya said it was a mark of thanks and appreciation from the people to members of the security forces who would be on duty during the festive period to safeguard national security.
