Umno rep: People may reject 'one pillow, different dreams' in next GE

The current state of the Selangor government is akin to three parties sharing a pillow but having different dreams, according to an Umno state assemblyperson.

Due to the conflicts between these parties, the people have lost confidence in their ability to govern the state in an effective manner, Batang Kali assemblyperson Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan said.

“The cooperation between them is becomingly increasingly unpredictable,” Mat Nadzari told Umno Online.

He said the concept of power sharing among DAP, PAS and PKR in Selangor has not improved.

To illustrate his point, he pointed to the dispute over seats in the Sarawak election as well as the Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar by-elections.

“I think the people understand as well because they have seen how haywire the opposition is.

“So the people have many reasons not to elect them again in the coming general election. Perhaps the outcome of the twin by-elections is an indication of this,” Mat Nadzari added.

BN secured thumping victories in the Sungai Besar and Kuala Selangor by-elections on June 18, which witnessed opposition parties contesting against each other in both seats.

Meanwhile, Mat Nadzari also thanked Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for appointing Selangor Umno liaison chief Noh Omar as a cabinet minister.

He said Selangor Umno is hoping that the appointment would allow Noh to usher in a wave of developments in the state.

This, he said, would convince the people that BN is better than the current state government.

“If this happens, God willing, the people’s support will manifest in the coming general election, since they can see that the Selangor government has failed to resolve the problems of the people, both in rural and urban areas,” Mat Nadzari added.

Noh Omar was appointed as local government, housing and urban well-being minister in Monday’s cabinet reshuffle.
