Forgiveness and generosity practiced by Muslims during Hari Raya Aidilfitri should be emulated by other races in the country to live in peace and harmony.

Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong, who is also the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, said such values are the best remedies to resolve conflict and tension in the community.

"Ahead of the festive season, let us mutually pardon, forgive and promote the values of mutual respect. I urge all Malaysians, regardless of race or religion, to embrace the spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri," he said in his Aidilfitri message in Kuala Lumpur today.

Muslims in Malaysia will celebrate the first day of Syawal tomorrow.
