The country will soon witness the birth of another opposition coalition, called Gabungan Rakyat Saksama (Saksama), which will be formed by seven political parties from Sabah, Sarawak and peninsula Malaysia.

This was revealed by Sarawak Reform Party (Star) president Lina Soo at a press conference today.

Saksama comprises Star, Parti Sejahtera Angkatan Perpaduan Sabah (Sapu), Pertubuhan Perpaduan Rakyat Kebangsaan Sabah (Perpaduan), Malaysia United People's Party (Mupp) , Parti Kebangsaan Sabah (PKS), Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) and the People’s Alternative Party from the peninsula.

This will be the third opposition coalition after Pakatan Harapan and the bloc formed by PAS and Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan) .

The new coalition after Pakatan Rakyat had failed to pose a stiff challenge to BN as the opposition is fragmented, said Soo as quoted by The Star.

According to Soo, the new coalition was initiated by Philip Among, the president of Mupp.

"We will be an alternative political force to BN," she said, adding that Saksama was being set up in preparation for the next polls.
