The High Court here today allowed an application by MIC president Dr S Subramaniam and seven others to
strike out a suit related to an alleged conspiracy to topple former president G Palanivel last year.

Judge Yeoh Wee Siam made the decision in chambers after hearing submissions from all the eight plaintiffs and eight defendants.

Senior federal counsel Amarjeet Singh who represented two of the defendants - Registrar of Societies Malaysia (ROS) director-general Mohamad Razin Abdullah and ROS officer Akmal Yahya - when met said the court had
dismissed the suit on grounds that all the plaintiffs had no locus standi to file the suit.

He said the court also ordered all the plaintiffs to pay cost of RM15,000 to all the defendants.

On Feb 5, former MIC secretary-general AK Ramalingam and seven others filed the suit against Subramaniam and seven others over an alleged conspiracy to topple Palanivel last year.

The other plaintiffs were V Ganesh, Henry Benedict Asirvatham, M Sathiyamurthu, George Alexander Fernandez, RM Prabu, R Sithambaran Pillay and V Rajoo.

They named Subramaniam, S Vigneswaran, Jaspal Singh, T Mohan, A Sakthivel, lawyer V Vasanthi, Mohamad Razin and Akmal as defendants.
