Police have shot dead the main suspect in the Batu Maung chicken factory shooting case, earlier this evening near the Kek Lok Si Bhuddist temple in Air Itam Penang, reports Berita Harian Online.

According to the portal's report, this was anounced by the Penang police Criminal Investigation Department chief Razaruddin Husain.

In the 2.55am incident yesterday, four in a family were allegedly shot dead at close range by the suspect who is a close family member, at a chicken processing factory in Batu Maung.

The suspect fled the scene in a four-wheeled drive vehicle which he later left near Bukit Mertajam.

The murder weapon was not recovered in the abandoned vehicle, and police believed that it is still in the suspect's possession.

Police have described the 32-year-old suspect as armed and dangerous because of the nature of his violent crime against his own family members.

CCTV recordings of the incident at the factory allegedly showed the suspect shooting his four victims at close range.

He was suspected of being on drugs, though police found only drug-taking paraphernalia and no drugs at the scene of the crime.
